Dr. Beckerman was born and raised in New York City. He attended college at the University of Wisconsin at Madison and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1981. He received a Masters degree in Physiology in 1982 from Georgetown University. He continued Georgetown for his medical education and received his M.D. in 1986.

Dr. Beckerman completed his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at George Washington University Hospital in 1990. He has been with Foxhall OB/GYN Associates since 1990.

Dr. Beckerman has three children. His medical interests include obstetrics, cancer prevention, and women health care in general from adolescence through menopause.
